Derek W. Soros
Vancouver solo guitarist playing a variety of styles including classical, blues, jazz and pop.
His musical portfolio includes seven years of performances in Los Angeles among which are
the spotlights of California Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey and the Picnic Basket Restaurant
in Encino, California, and the Arrivas Ristorante in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Derek started to study music at age 13 and later he spent his formative years of
music education at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Vancouver where he studied
classical guitar, composition and classical piano, and Capilano College from where
he holds a degree in classical music.
He has a Bachelors Degree from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles where he achieved
the highest final jury grade for guitar in the history of the school.
During his seven year period in L.A., Derek became acquainted with some of the best
guitar teachers in the world such as Ted Greene, Scott Henderson, Jamie Findlay and
Ron Eshete. While there, he developed a distinct style of guitar music and (around
L.A. and Orange County) gained the reputation as a great player of Steely Dan guitar solos.

In addition to his performances on stage and on CD, Derek is also available
(by special appointment) as a for-hire-musician for private parties, weddings or gigs with various bands.
