Exactly, what is our "standard operating procedure"?
When we receive a request for a new project,
our house standard procedure is to ask you if you have a budget for the project that you
propose. We respect budgets and always do our best to accommodate them in one form or
another. Yes, we negotiate... to an extent.
You don't have a set budget?
Each project is unique, and so is its cost.
Even if you don't have a set budget, we want you to know exactly (and beforehand) what
a project is going to cost you. For this reason, and before we commit to any type of work,
we always send the client a project cost estimate. If the estimate is accepted, we then
meet and discuss the details(*).
How do we calculate the cost of a project?
When we calculate the cost of a project we take
in consideration the length of time required to complete the project, the complexity of work
involved and the possible extra expenses involved, i.e. paying for special licenses and/or
registrations, buying advertising etc. The estimate you will receive from us will be based
on a either per-hour, or per-project scenario. The chosen format depends entirely on the nature of the project.
The set rates that we charge.
The table below illustrates the numbers, and
the rules we follow, when we calculate the estimates for projects and services.
| Per Hour Fee |
| our hourly fee: |
CAD $50/hr +GST(**).
Applies to all projects requiring less than 10 hours to complete. Any work requiring more
than ten hours to complete will be subject to a per-project formula. (see below) |
| minimum number of hours billed: |
1 hour. In
our books, less than one hour of work is considered time taken from another client; (you
wouldn't like it if we used your allocated time frame - that is, your money - in order to
make a "small adjustment" on someone else's project, would you?) |
| Per Project Fee |
| per-project pricing: |
based on the length
of time required to allocate to a project and the complexity of work. |
| minimum project value: |
CAD $50.00 +GST |
| open projects: |
The payments
for ongoing projects (such as site content management and web marketing) are charges
calculated on a per-hour basis and for a set number of hours per month as agreed upon
beforehand. These equal amounts are required to be paid on the first of each month.
Please note that for internet marketing projects these fees do not include the cost of
buying advertising. |
| Estimates / Retainers / Taxes |
project estimates:
 |
If you would like to get
a project cost estimate go
to this page. The
more details you give us, the more accurate of an estimate we will be able to send you, the
more money you will save. Please note that, any additional
work required after the estimate has been approved, and the work on the project has already began,
is subject to additional charges which are calculated by the hour.
 |
| (*) retainer: |
40%.
A retainer equal to forty percent of the total project value is required to be paid after
a project estimate has been accepted. Please note that
we expect that this, not-repayable payment, is made to us by the end of the first meeting
during which we will discuss the project's details. The work
on the project will commence immediately after this initial payment has cleared the bank. |
(**) taxes:
 |
Canadian G.S.T. is
added to the total estimated cost of all projects that fall under the following categories:
graphic/web design, development and marketing consulting, web site maintenance, internet marketing
and online ad campaign management.
GST is included in (1) all online advertising services (directory
submissions, real estate private listings, as well as in (2) the costs for special-interest products,
such as special-interest CDs, health, beauty and cosmetic products and paid-for content, all services for which direct online payment systems are in place.
